Gandaki, Jan 26: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pande, has said the government would not bring mass communications bill against spirit of free press and independent journalism.During a programme organized by FNJ Kaski chapter here Friday, CM Pande assured that suggestions from journalism would be taken into account while passing the bill.
“Be sure, province government does not formulate law that ignores free press,” he said before the journalists. CM Pande further informed that report on final draft of bill was getting ready. It will be passed by the coming winter session of the parliament, Pande added.
According to him, journalism is facing a host of challenges in the wake of development and expansion of IT.He shared information that province government had launched a plan for development of journalism in the province. Government had increased investment in fellowships to journalists, and public welfare advertisements.
