A tunnel way linking Jajarkot and Jumla is going to be constructed. The tunnel route will connect Kushe rural municipality-8 Sangta of Jajarkot with Tatopani rural municipality-8 Imilchaghari of Jumla.Quality, Research and Development Centre of the Department of Roads has issued notice for feasibility study in this regard. It has already called tender for the feasibility study of the tunnel route and the construction of the route would be started after the completion of feasibility study, said former Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet.
Basnet shared, “Feasibility study is going to be carried out to construct the tunnel way and to open a track of the new road.”
He further said that construction activities would be forwarded soon after the feasibility study as tunnel would be the shortest route to link Jajarkot and Jumla. The distance from Sangta of Jajarkot to Imilchaghari of Jumla is around 10 kilometers.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and Province Assembly member Ganesh Prasad Singh said that they had been demanding the government since earlier for feasibility study of the tunnel route and the Department of Roads has already issued notice for the same.
One has to walk around 10 hours uphill to reach Jumla from Jajarkot and it would take only around 30 minutes to reach there after construction of the tunnel route, he added.
Singh said they hope that their demand since long is going to be met.
