Government gives sense of hope to people: PM Dahal

The fourth plenary meeting of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) Central Committee has begun here today. The Maoist Centre Chairperson and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ addressed the meeting at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi.

Inaugurating the meeting, the Maoist Centre Chair and PM Dahal said the good governance campaign started by the government has given a sense of hope among the people. “At this point of the country’s politics, what sorts of expectation and hopes people have from our party and past movements? What sorts of initiatives, and activities taken by the government led by the party have created a new wave of hope in people,” he said.

Saying politics comes with both challenges and opportunities, he stressed the need for the party leadership for moving ahead learning from the past. Chair Dahal is scheduled to submit the political and organisational report, said Dor Prasad Upadhyay, secretary of the party central office. The party has formed a subcommittee to prepare the political and organisational proposal. Chair Dahal gave the final touch to the report prepared by the subcommittee.

The meeting is said to be holding a discussion on the review of the incumbent government and unification with other parties including the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’. Similarly, the meeting will discuss the unification proposal sent by the Nepal Samajwadi Party led by Dr Baburam Bhattarai. The five-day meeting has been attended by the total 758 representatives including 385 full central members, 198 alternative central members and 75 representatives of party’s three commissions.
