Kathmandu, Oct 23 -CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli assured that party would forge unity from ward to central level for its stronger unification. Virtually inaugurating the party’s ward committee convention from central office of the UML at Thapathali, Kathmandu on Saturday, Chairperson Oli said that CPN (UML) moved forward in a new way following the departure of leaders Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal. “There are no thorny issues in the party anymore. It is certainly a matter of happiness.”

“There are attempts to sabotage the democracy, constitution and development practices. There are also attempts to incur losses to the country and push the country towards regression,” he argued, adding that CPN(UML) had stepped down from the government due to intraparty feud and external discreet dealing.

According to him, the party was reenergized after the first statute general convention of the UML unanimously endorsed the proposal seeking political, organizational and statute amendment. He claimed that the UML was preparing to return to power with absolute majority in the upcoming election. “Except for parliament and provincial government, we are a huge force in other fronts. At local levels, our presence was wide. We are a big party in terms of politics and ideology.”

He viewed that the ward committee was a primary committee of the party and it was the work space of the people’s elected representatives. “Today’s convention is very important for leadership development, capacity building and ensuring inclusiveness.”The UML is conducting ward committee convention in 6,500 wards across the country while local level convention will be held from October 26, the UML shared.

He demanded immediate compensation to the landslide and flood victims as well as to those injured ones in the disasters induced by unexpected torrential rains recently. Drawing the attention of the government towards those peasants whose crops were damaged by the disasters, Oli demanded immediate relief package for them.(RSS):
