Eleven new and expecting mothers have been rescued by air from Achham district so far under the President Women Upliftment Programme, Chief District Officer Rudra Bahadur Malla said.
The Programme is run by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen. Under this programme, expecting and new mothers are airlifted free of cost in case of medical complication.
CDO Malla said 11 new and expectant mothers were rescued from the district since fiscal year 2019/20. Two expecting mothers were recently airlifted on August 22.
This programme has greatly benefitted the new and expectant mothers of remote areas at times of emergency, it is said.
